  8. Removing that Shrink-Expand (sliding) window method Win95 uses as a default
  9. to method where they snap into place (faster).

  11. From InfoWorld article:

  13. 1) Run: regedit
  14. 2) Hit "+" next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
  15. 3) Hit "+" next to Control Panel
  16. 4) Click DeskTop folder
  17. 5) Find line in right panel with "MinAnimate", change value to 0 (zero).
  18. 6) Quick and restart.

  21. Not Able To Print Blue-Print or Frequent GPF's

  24. Reduce Graphic acceleration setting to reduece GDI problems.

  26. 1) In Control-Panel, System, select Performance tab.
  27. 2) Select Graphics button.
  28. 3) Move 'Hardware Acceleration' slide from full right to second from
  29.    right position.
  30. 4) Quick and restart.

  36. Will need disks from Win95 floppy set marked: Cab1, Cab6, Cab11, Cab12
  37. Remove all entries from config.sys, autoexec.bat files that have anything
  38. to do with Netware, ODI, IFSHLP, etc..
  39. Check their c:\NET.CFG file to see what driver they are using,
  40. note interrupt and port.

  42. Go into Control Panel-Networks, delete all entries.
  43. Then select Adapters, go to the one called Novell/Anthem, select NE2000
  44. compatible, set INT and PORT, ignore any indications that it thinks
  45. there is a conflict (* by entry), hit OK.
  46. Go into Netware Client, if fileserver is shown in Primary Server list,
  47. select it from the dropdown list again.
  48. Win95 will want you to restart computer, go ahead.

  50. After restarting, login, this first time it may not process Login
  51. Scripts, which may cause some errors, ignore them.
  52. If it doesn't process the login scripts then:
  53.   Go into Control Panel-Networks, select Netware Client, select primary
  54.   server.
  55. It will restart again, this time after logging in it should say it is
  56. "Processing Login Scripts" at some point after entering their password.

  58. Done with Netware Setup.

  61. Setting up Win95 as a Netware Print Server, replaces "rprinter" method.

  64. Note: when done, the Win95 print server does not appear on any Queue/Server
  65. status windows, but it does appear as a user if you use Novell's UserLlist
  66. command.
  67. Apparently, Win95 is just going into the bindery and checking for files to
  68. print, it then prints them.  Novell is not actually active in this process.
  69. Because this is a polled process by Win95, it may take up to 30-40 seconds
  70. before it checks the queue and processes any jobs waiting, unlike Novell's
  71. Pserver/Rprinter which processed fairly quickly.

  73. Use PCONSOLE to define a new Printer Server that will be used by a Win95
  74. user to determine the queues it will be responsible for de-spooling. You can
  75. only use 3 of the 16 possible printers, and only local LPT ports.

  77. Example:    Server:  WIN95_JEFF
  78.          Printer 0:  Jeff's Laser, Local LPT1:, leave the rest at defaults
  79.          Queues Serviced By Printer:  JALASER

  81. Also, if the queues the Win95 user will now handle are listed under another
  82. Server definition, then delete them from the old server, unload and reload
  83. server so they are no longer handled by the old server.

  86. for instructions on how to actually install the Print Agent.

  88. Once installed and a printer has been setup on the user's system, a new tab
  89. should be visible (not usually there), called 'Spool', select Spool, select
  90. server, select Server name from list.
